Your driver picks you up from your hotel lobby at 05:00. You drive to Luxor in a private air-conditioned vehicle, through the desert and the green Nile Valley, with a short refreshment stop on the way. The drive takes about 4 hours.
Your first stop is Karnak Temple, the largest temple complex in Egypt. Your Egyptologist guide walks you through the Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 giant columns, along the Avenue of Sphinxes and past the ancient obelisks.
At midday you cross to the West Bank and visit the Valley of the Kings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You go inside three royal tombs covered with colourful paintings and hieroglyphs. Phone photos without flash are free. Tutankhamun's tomb is an option with a separate ticket.
You have a traditional Egyptian lunch at a local restaurant with a view of the Nile, with dishes such as grilled meat, koshari and vegetables. Lunch is included; drinks are paid on the spot.
In the afternoon you visit the terraced Temple of Hatshepsut, built into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. Your guide tells you the story of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the few women to rule Egypt as pharaoh.
Next you stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two giant statues that have stood for more than 3,000 years. In the afternoon light, it is one of the best photo spots of the day.
You end your visit with a 1-hour motorboat ride on the Nile, with views of Luxor's East and West Banks. The boat ride is included in the price.
Your driver takes you back to Hurghada. You arrive at your hotel around 20:00.
You can see Luxor in one day from Hurghada, or take two days and stay the night. This is the difference:

If you have one free day, this tour shows you the best of Luxor. If you want a slower pace and Luxor Temple, ask us about our private 2-day Luxor tour.
Your Valley of the Kings ticket includes three royal tombs. The tombs open to visitors change from time to time, so your guide chooses the best three that are open on the day. You can take photos with your phone inside the tombs without flash, free of charge. Tutankhamun's tomb needs a separate ticket.
Your guide is a qualified Egyptologist who speaks fluent English and stays with you all day. They explain the history in a simple, lively way, adjust the pace to your group and show you what interests you most.

"We had a perfect time on the day trip to Luxor organized by Sonnenland Reisen 🤩 The transfer was done with a new comfortable minibus that we had all to ourselves. The drivers were experienced, and we could enjoy the ride in a relaxed manner. […] The restaurant where we had lunch later was very elegantly furnished, and the food was delicious! The boat tour on the Nile was also perfect - we even had a boat all to ourselves."
